The Yoga House Teacher Training
Cancellation & Refund Policy
Before submitting an application to The Yoga House teacher training program, we strongly encourage applicants to consider the time and resource investments required on the path to becoming a Yoga teacher. The applicant needs to ensure that the dates, times and costs work for them.
We will be expecting 100% attendance. Any student with less than 90% attendance will not graduate.
Applicants are signing up for and paying for a course of Yoga instruction, not for an automatically awarded certificate. Certification is only on successful completion and passing of assessments and exams. A fail in any one module will mean an overall fail.
In the case of a student failing their final assessment s/he will have a chance to re-sit written exams and practical later for an extra fee.
The deposit is due with the application and is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Students will not be permitted to sit final exams if full payment has not been received.
If an applicant cancels or drops out after the course has started, then the full program cost is non-refundable and non-transferable.
The Yoga House accepts no responsibility for cancelled or rescheduled training.
If a student decides that due to extenuating circumstances s/he is unable to complete the course, the student may request to postpone completing the course for a year/18 months depending on the course length. Postponement will only be considered in unusual and extreme circumstances and will be extended by the teacher-training course director on a case-by-case basis at her discretion.
Terms & Conditions
This is an adult education course. We will treat you as adults. We will not chase you for homework or chastise you for lack of attendance. You are responsible for your self; you need to be self-motivated.
You need to attend a regular weekly Yoga class, appropriate to your level as a teacher trainee. That should be a level 3 class or equivalent, with a teacher who is qualified to teach teacher trainees. Ideally it is with one of the tutors on this course. This class can be on Zoom, but we recommend in person when possible.
We request you bring your own yoga mat when coming into The Yoga House
We expect 100% attendance. In case of emergency if you miss a session you must ensure that all material is covered with private tuition at an extra cost. If you miss more than one weekend then you no longer fit the Yoga Alliance attendance criteria, and cannot qualify as a Yoga Instructor this year.
To pass this course, a minimum of 180 contact hours, consistently good grades in your continual assessment & a high standard in your final assessment results are required.
Timekeeping is important. If we are due to start at 10am that means be on your mat and ready to begin at 10am. We cannot let latecomers dictate when we start. Timekeeping is one of the most fundamental and basic skills of a good Yoga teacher.
As a Yoga teacher you need to be a Yoga practitioner, not just a Yoga enthusiast. You need to roll out your mat every day and practice. Self-practice is mature self-sufficient practice.
On this teacher-training course we are teaching Yoga. Not Iyengar, Bikram, Anusara or any trademarked brands of Yoga. To teach them you need to pay a subscription fee on top of doing their officially endorsed courses. With our course you will not be limited in what you teach, you will teach what you practice, as long as you do not infringe on a trademarked brand.
Please pay your installments promptly on the stated dates so as not to lead to embarrassing conversations. If you need to arrange a different pay timetable do not hesitate to approach Rachel.
You need to have the books from your required reading list by the start date of the training course. The Yoga books are for home reference.
You are being continually assessed, so high standards are required as the norm. You will be graded on your assignments & those grades will join with final assessment results to give you a pass or fail.
Assignments must be turned in on the date stipulated in class & by email.
Late assignments will not be accepted unless in extenuating circumstances, and only if requested and confirmed in writing.
As part of the course we request that you observe one class a month with one of your tutors. this can be on Zoom.
